Read the width columns together. Max panel width is a hard limit from the load chart. Max frame width is the frame-area cap divided by the height — it tells you how wide you can go, and the panel width tells you how many panels that takes. Both have to be satisfied.
Rules that apply to every door
Average panel width
door frame width ÷ number of panels — this is the number the charts use, not the widest single panel.
Max panel area
60.75 sq ft — 60¾″ × 144″. Nothing exceeds this in any configuration.
Pocket doors
40 sq ft max panel area, ±70 psf max. Firm limit — that is the unit that was actually built and tested.
Three-track / screens
No longer capped at 40 sq ft. The 2026 revision struck “three (3) track” from that note; it now applies to pocket doors only.
Water infiltration
No longer a separate derate. The old 50 psf limit applied only to the 60¾″ × 144″ panel and is now built into the charts.
Impact rating
Large and small missile, HVHZ. No shutters required.
